About Richard Jackson
Richard received is BFA in Technical Theater and Design from Sam Houston State University and his MA in English from California Polytechnic State University.
Richard has worked for theater companies as a technical director, set designer, and lighting designer in Texas, Oklahoma, New York, Nevada, and California. He received awards for technical direction and lighting design for his work in Las Vegas.
Richard started teaching technical theater courses in 1994 and has received several national awards for technical direction, lighting design, and set design from KC/ACTF (Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival). While teaching at Cuesta College, he received The Peter and M’May Diffley Teaching Excellence Award. Richard enjoys expanding his knowledge of technical theater and design; he is constantly looking for new materials, processes, and forms of artistic expression.
When not teaching technical theater and design courses, Richard works as a certified flight instructor.
