About Claire Edmonds

Claire Edmonds is a bi-coastal freelance director who stages plays and musicals in theaters and universities across the United States. Claire is currently working with playwright and climate activist David Finnigan and dramaturge Annette Mees on a new work commissioned by The Public Theater, premiering in 2028.

Focusing on new plays, she has previously staged new works for artists such as John Patrick Shanley. She was the New York Resident Director for the award-winning Trainspotting Live Off-Broadway. As an Associate, Claire most recently assisted Tony nominee Saheem Ali on the New York premiere of Good Bones by James Ijames. 

Claire has an MFA in Directing from the UCLA School of Theater Film and Television and a BA with Honors in Directing from the UCI Claire Trevor School of the Arts. Claire is from Atascadero, California. Spring 2026 will be her first quarter lecturing for Cal Poly San Luis Obispo.
