Audition Information

Cal Poly Theatre & Dance invites all currently enrolled Cal Poly students, regardless of major or previous theatre experience, to audition for our fall production of William Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream.

Students of all backgrounds, identities, and experience levels are encouraged to audition.

Audition Date: Thursday, August 27th, 2026
Location: Building 45, Room 212
Time: 6:30-10pm

What to Prepare

Please select ONE of the provided audition sides and prepare it in advance.

Rehearsal Schedule

Rehearsals will begin Sunday, August 30th and will be held Sunday-Thursday from 7pm-10pm. Not all performers will be called to every rehearsal.

  • Titania – Queen of the Fairies
  • Puck (Robin Goodfellow) – A mischievous fairy spirit

Casting Philosophy

This production is looking to cast individuals of all backgrounds, beliefs, ethnicities, social classes, genders, gender identities, gender expressions, national origins, documentation statuses, religious affiliations, sexual orientations, ability – and other visible and nonvisible differences. The rehearsal room will provide an inclusive environment for every member of the cast, and all members of the cast are expected to contribute to the work with respect.

Casting will be based on artistic fit, storytelling needs, ensemble collaboration, and the specific vision of the production.
